WoW Tips

Tip 1 - Read your Quest Journal. Now we hate to snipe here, people, but the "L" key on your keyboard opens up your Quest Journal. This handy-dandy little item contains literally all the information you need to solve whatever quest your given. Check it early and check it often because if you're cluttering up the "General" chat channel asking "Where's the Wailing Caverns?" 47 times not only will you learn all sort of new Azerothian insults, but when you eventually find the place, it's not going to win you any friends when you then start looking for a group to explore with. Your Quest Journal has directions so precise they make MapQuest look vague to avoid precisely this situation. Read your Quest Journal! Read your Quest Journal! Read your Quest Journal!

Energy

The Rogue requires energy to perform most abilities. Energy is built up over time. You can only increase your energy pool or the rate at which it regenerates through the use of high-end talents. Abilities cost less energy if they miss or are blocked. Lineage 2 is almost 2 years old now and players are currently working their way through Chronicle 4: Scions of Destiny, the game's latest free content addition. If you're not familiar with the Lineage series, they are leading MMORPGs in Korea where they were developed, and they have subscribers that number in the millions overseas. They haven't been a huge success in North America, but Lineage 2 is making an effort to break into this market.

Stealth

Stealth is the ability to remain undetected by the enemy. It is not the same as invisibility. When something is in Stealth mode it can still be seen but only if detected. However, detected players in Stealth mode become clear or transparent and blend in with the background making them more difficult to spot. Lineage 2 has earned a bit of a reputation for its female character models, which often look more like they belong in a beauty pageant than a war with ferocious beasts, especially given how scant their "armor" is. I don't doubt for a second that it appeals to hormone drenched teenage boys, but would a warrior of any gender go into battle with their underwear showing? Yeah, it's a fantasy game, and I guess this criticism could be levied against the industry as a whole.

Using Stealth

By using Stealth you can sneak up behind monsters to perform various abilities such as Sap, Backstab, and Ambush. Without Stealth the monster would simply turn around and attack. Try to predict the movement patterns of the monster and then sneak up behind it at the right moment. This becomes much easier once you reach Stealth level 2 which allows you to move faster. A common way for a Rogue to fight is to first sneak up on a monster from behind using Stealth. The Rogue then uses a Backstab, Sap, Ambush, or Cheap Shot. The Rogue then continues with combat now that the monster is in a weakened state. The game was designed to be played from the third-person point of view, although it is possible to get right into your character's eyes. Movement is accomplished by pointing and clicking, which is the norm for Korean RPGs.

Stealth Pulling

Stealth is also great for pulling. The Rogue can activate Stealth, and then sneak up on the enemy without aggroing nearby monsters. Then the Rogue can Sap an extra monster to start the pull. As Rogues' skill in Stealth becomes higher they can become even more effective at pulling and scouting for pullers. The GUI is remarkably clean and uses screen space very efficiently. I'd rather have a mini-map than the compass, and a few more options would be welcome, but it's intuitive enough to adjust too quickly. This will be the ultimate resource for World of Warcraft players for all sorts of information and fun. This will take some time to build, so please be patient. We plan to do that once the database section is active. We will add the spells and complete stats and likely tips as well.

Reputation

In Azeroth, players will encounter many different factions throughout the world. By completing certain quests or killing certain creatures, players are able to gain favor with some of these factions. Gaining reputation with certain factions allows players to purchase items or undertake quests that are unavailable to other players. Players have a bonus to their starting reputation with their own race's faction. Undead Forsaken players have lower-than-normal starting reputation with their team's Troll, Tauren, and Orc factions. All members of both the Horde and Alliance are reporting low stockpiles of various textile resources! Donations of cloth are now being accepted in the following locations: Darnassus, Stormwind, and Ironforge for the Alliance; Orgrimmar, Undercity, and Thunder Bluff for the Horde.

Rewards

Listed below are items that are rewarded when you turn in different decks. Decks are created by collecting cards which can be looted from various creatures around the world. Once you have all the cards of a specific deck, you combine them to create a deck. There are four types of decks: the Beast Deck, the Elementals Deck, the Portals Deck, and the Warlords Deck. In the vast gray of Desolace lies the earthen tomb of Zaetar, fallen Keeper of the Grove and son of Cenarius. Zaetar rejected his Keeper heritage when he joined with the princess of the chaotic earth elementals, Theradras. Their unholy union gave birth to the misshapen and cursed centaur, who promptly slew their father for his part in their misbegotten creation. Fearful of Cenarius' wrath, the grief-stricken Theradras sequestered her dead lover's body in her secret sanctuary, the Crystal Caverns of Therramok, where she watches over him to this day.

Skills

Skills are grouped into several categories: professions, secondary skills, weapon skills, class skills, armor proficiencies, and languages. Your character's skills can be viewed on the skills tab of your character sheet. Professions are the major trade skills available to all classes, such as tailoring and mining. A character can only have two professions at any given time. Secondary skills, such as fishing and first aid, are also trade skills but have no restriction on how many can be learned. Weapon skills include all weapons that a character is able to use. Many weapon skills need to be learned, as your character only starts with a handful of skills he can learn.

Burning Crusade

The most efficient way to gain reputation is to first kill monsters in the first two wings of Hellfire Citadel, Hellfire Ramparts & Blood Furnace, until you reached Honored – without doing the quests in Hellfire Peninsula. You can also repeat the PvP quest, "Hellfire Fortifications," to gain a slight amount of reputation until you are partly through Honored. After you reach the maximum rep level from these methods, then you should try to complete every quest you can in Hellfire Peninsula. Once you run out of quests, doing Shattered Halls (the level 70 wing) will be the primary method to continue to gain reputation in Honored and Revered. You will probably have to leave Hellfire Peninsula, then level up to 70 and come back and finish getting your reputation in Shattered Halls.

Strategy One

For those of you who enjor thoroughly avalyzing World of Warcraft’s class composition through armory data, do we have the site for you! Okoloth has started his own armory database—he queries the armory for characters and then feeds the information back in to a local database where he can compile statistics on the overall playerbase. The downside to the project is that it’s difficult to get a comprehensive list of all players—Okoloth gets his player list by first checking all players on Arena teams and then querying every player in those players’ guilds. So this data isn’t 100% accurate simply because it’s not pulling 100% of character information—however, I’d say the 40,000 character profiles queried gives us a reasonable slice of the overall population.
